RULES WORLD DANCE CONTEST 2026

ARTICLE 1 – COMPETITION OVERVIEW

The World Dance Contest – 2026 Edition aims to bring together dance enthusiasts from around the world and provide artists with an opportunity to express themselves on stage.

Organized by Daï Chi Danses du Monde, this event showcases a wide variety of dance styles, including Urban Dance, Bollywood, Jazz, Contemporary, African Dance, Heels, Oriental Dance, and many others.

The competition will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the CCVA (Centre Culturel de la Vie Associative), 234 Cours Émile Zola, 69100 Villeurbanne, France, on a 100 m² stage accommodating up to 80 performers.

ARTICLE 2 – CATEGORIES

The competition offers the following categories:

  • SOLO

  • DUO

  • GROUP (up to 25 dancers)

  • JUNIOR: Solo, Duo, Group (participants under the age of 13 on the day of the competition)

ARTICLE 3 – REGISTRATION AND VIDEO PRESELECTIONS

The competition is open to solo dancers, duos, groups, and juniors of all nationalities.

1. Registration Procedure

Registration is carried out exclusively through a video preselection process.

Video preselection period:
August 24, 2026 – October 7, 2026 (inclusive).

No videos submitted after this deadline will be accepted.

2. Video Submission

Each participant must submit a presentation video lasting between 30 seconds and 2 minutes via one of the following platforms:

3. Video Preselection Registration Fee

The video preselection fee is €15 per dancer, payable online at the time of registration.

This fee is non-refundable.

For groups, each dancer must individually pay the preselection fee.

For selected participants, this amount will be deducted from the final registration fee (see Article 9).

4. Notification of Results

The results of the video preselection will be announced from October 8, 2026, by email.

Successful applicants will then be invited to complete their final registration in accordance with the procedures outlined in Article 9, in order to participate in the 5th edition of the World Dance Contest.

ARTICLE 4 – THE COMPETITION (October 24, 2026)

The competition held on October 24, 2026, is divided into the following six categories:

  • Solo

  • Duo

  • Group

  • Junior Solo

  • Junior Duo

  • Junior Group

One winner will be designated in each category, resulting in six finalists advancing to the final stage of the competition.

At the end of the day, all category winners will compete in the ultimate challenge: the Final of Finals, where they will compete for the World Dance Contest Grand Prize, worth €1,000, along with additional surprise prizes.

Participants are required to arrive at the time indicated on their official invitation.

A designated area will be available for changing costumes and warming up. No stage rehearsals will be permitted on the day of the competition.

1. Choreography and Dance Styles

The theme of the choreography is entirely at the participant's discretion.

Performances must belong to one of the following dance styles:

  • Urban Dance

  • Jazz

  • Contemporary

  • Heels

  • Afro

  • Bollywood

  • Tribal

  • Oriental

  • Other (to be specified during registration)

2. Performance Duration

For all categories, performances must last between 2 and 4 minutes, with a tolerance of ±10 seconds.

The music submitted must strictly comply with the competition's time limits.

3. The "Final of Finals"

For this final round, the winners of each category will perform once again at the end of the competition day, following a predetermined running order.

A mandatory theme will be sent by email to the participants selected during the video preselection stage.

Finalists must present a brand-new choreography, created specifically for this round, lasting 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Important: The choreography performed during the qualifying rounds may not be reused for the Final of Finals. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification.

ARTICLE 5 – MUSIC SUBMISSION

Each solo dancer, duo, or group must submit the music for their performance in MP3 format via a WeTransfer link to: contact@concoursworlddance.com

When sending the download link, participants must include the following information:

  • Name of the solo dancer, duo, or group

  • Competition category

  • Dance style

  • Title of the choreography or performance

The audio file must be ready for playback, requiring no editing or manipulation other than being played.

Incomplete or non-compliant submissions may result in the participant's performance not being validated for the competition.

Music submission deadline: October 18, 2026.

ARTICLE 6 – JUDGING CRITERIA

For all competition categories, performances will be evaluated according to four separate criteria.

Each criterion is worth 5 points, for a maximum total score of 20 points.

The judging criteria are as follows:

  • Technique (5 points): precision of movements, body control, and synchronization.

  • Musicality (5 points): interpretation of the music, rhythm, and how well the choreography matches the soundtrack.

  • Creativity & Costume (5 points): originality of the choreography, artistic coherence, and the quality and suitability of the costume.

  • Stage Presence (5 points): stage presence, emotional expression, audience engagement, and overall performance quality.

Judges score each performance independently and impartially.

The total number of points determines each participant's final ranking.

ARTICLE 7 – THE JUDGING PANEL

The judging panel consists of dance professionals, experienced dancers, and recognized figures from the performing arts industry.

The panel will include at least three (3) judges, each responsible for evaluating every aspect of the performance, including:

  • Technique

  • Musicality

  • Choreography and stage presentation

  • Costumes

  • Stage presence

Each judge evaluates performances independently and according to their own professional expertise.

The judges' decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Following deliberation, the panel reserves the right to award one or more Special Awards to recognize an outstanding performance, exceptional artistic achievement, or any remarkable aspect of a presentation.

ARTICLE 8 – AWARDS

Awards are presented according to each participant's final ranking within their respective category.

1. Category Awards

For all categories (Solo, Duo, Group, Junior Solo, Junior Duo, and Junior Group):

  • 1st Place: Gold Medal + Trophy

  • 2nd Place: Silver Medal + Trophy

  • 3rd Place: Bronze Medal + Trophy

All participants finishing on the podium will receive at least one medal and one trophy.

2. Special Jury Award

The judging panel reserves the right to present a Special Jury Award to recognize exceptional originality, artistic creativity, or an outstanding performance.

This award may include various additional prizes, such as:

  • participation in a dance workshop,

  • an invitation to perform at a show or event,

  • or any other artistic opportunity offered by the organizers or their partners.

3. Audience Award

The Audience Award is open to participants selected during the video preselection stage.

The nominated participants will be featured on the official World Dance Contest (WDC) Instagram page.

The public will vote by liking the photo of their favorite dancer or group.

The participant receiving the highest number of likes will win the Audience Award, which grants direct qualification for the Final of Finals.

Voting period:
October 12 – October 24, 2026

Important: Only votes cast on Instagram will be taken into account. Votes from any other platform will not be considered.

4. Final of Finals – World Dance Contest Grand Prize

During the Final of Finals, one overall winner will be selected and awarded the World Dance Contest Grand Prize, valued at €1,000, along with additional surprise prizes.

The winner remains solely responsible for any expenses not expressly covered by these Rules, including transportation, accommodation, meals, or any personal costs related to participation in activities associated with the Prize. Participation in any activities connected to the Prize is entirely voluntary. Should the winner choose not to participate in one or more of the activities offered, no financial or material compensation shall be provided.

ARTICLE 9 – FINAL REGISTRATION

Final registration is reserved exclusively for participants selected during the video preselection process.

To officially confirm participation, the following steps are mandatory.

1. Registration Form Validation and Payment

Participants must:

  • complete the final online registration form received by email;

  • pay the remaining registration fee directly through the same form.

Registration deadline: October 11, 2026.

2. Professional Proof (TEACHER PASS)

Dance teachers responsible for registering participants must provide proof of their professional status in order to benefit from free admission with the TEACHER PASS.

Failure to provide valid proof will require the teacher to purchase an admission ticket through the official online ticketing system.

3. Music Submission

Performance music must be sent by email to:

The email must include:

  • the name of the solo dancer, duo, or group;

  • the dance style;

  • the title of the choreography or performance.

Music submission deadline: October 18, 2026.

4. Incomplete Applications and Waiting List

Any incomplete registration file will automatically be placed on a waiting list until all required documents and information have been received.

If the competition reaches maximum capacity before registrations close, applicants on the waiting list may not be accepted.

Organizer's Rights

The World Dance Contest Organization reserves the right to:

  • cancel any category if there are insufficient registered participants;

  • select one or more replacement participants if a selected contestant fails to complete payment of the remaining registration fee before the deadline.

ARTICLE 10 – REGISTRATION FEES

The registration fees for the competition are listed below. Registration fees apply per participant, per entry.

Payment may be made online or by bank transfer.

Important Reminder

The registration fees listed above represent the total registration fee before the deduction of the €15 per dancer already paid during the video preselection registration.

All registration fees are non-refundable, regardless of the reason.

Refunds will only be issued if the event is cancelled at the sole discretion of the organizers.

ARTICLE 11 – PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS

Participants acknowledge and agree that the World Dance Contest (WDC) may use their image for promotional, commercial, and internal communication purposes.

Please note that only the official photographs taken during the competition will be made available to participants. These photos can be viewed and downloaded from the event's official Facebook page:

Competition videos will not be provided individually to participants. Only the podium ceremony videos may be published on the official World Dance Contest YouTube channel:

ARTICLE 12 – LIABILITY

The organizers of the competition shall not be held liable for any bodily injury, material damage, loss, or theft suffered by or caused to any participant or accompanying person, whether during the competition or while travelling to and from the event.
